DealFriend Chrome extension · last updated June 2026

DealFriend is built to read the product, never your wallet.

What we read

Only when you tap the DealFriend button or icon — or, if you explicitly turn on “Check pages as I shop,” when you browse a supported product page — the extension reads the public product details on the page: name, brand, current and list price, currency, rating, review count, product image, and the product URL. That is the entire list.

What we never read

We never read <input> or form fields, passwords, payment or card details, cookies, localStorage, your browsing history, or any personal information. Placing the on-page button does not read the page.

Where it goes

The extracted product details are sent to our service at www.getdealfriend.com to generate the verdict and check prices across stores (via Google Shopping / SerpAPI and an AI model). We do not sell your data and do not use advertising or third-party tracking.

Your account (optional)

If you connect your account, your sign-in token is stored only in the extension’s sandboxed storage and sent as a bearer token so we can personalize your read and save items to your closet. Saved items are stored in your own account, accessible only to you. You can disconnect at any time, which clears the stored token.

Icon highlight

When the toolbar icon highlights on a product page, that match is performed by Chrome itself (declarativeContent); the extension does not see the URL or the page content.
